ASIA
Many mid-priced, key-stamps, and rare stamps from Asia have performed wonders in recent years. This is mainly due to the vastly increased number of new collectors in the oriental market. While the market may occasionally go through adjustments, the overall trend for the long term is for substantial rewards. Condition: PORTRAITS OF QUEEN VICTORIA ON BRITISH EMPIRE STAMPS
Description: VICTORIA REGINA: PHILATELIC ICONOGRAPHY AND THE ROYAL IMAGE by Giorgio Migliavacca — in English, replete with illustrations, 44 pages. This easy to use book focuses on the portraiture of Queen Victoria on the stamps of her long reign—the longest in philatelic history. As the subject matter warrants, there is much information about the early stamps of many territories and dominions of the British Empire. This well researched book also has a section devoted to short biographies of the major stamp designers and engravers of the Victorian era. It also shows many items from the famous “Chalon Heads” collection formed by Robson Lowe. This interesting book lists the major bibliographic sources. Providing a fresh and different look at the philatelic portraits of Queen Victoria, this is a MUST HAVE publication, especially for those who collect stamps of the British Empire. Very useful to specialists and even those with even only a passing interest in early stamps of the British Commonwealth.

Condition: JAPAN: A Specialized Listing of the Japanese Occupation of CHINA
Description: A Special Item
FROM THE ANTIQUARIAN & MODERNARIAN
OF POSTAL HISTORY & PHILATELY
Jack G. Nielsen, Ralph A. Weil, A Specialized Listing of the Japanese Occupation Stamps of China,
1995 46pp. in English
The two authors, both advanced collectors of Japanese Occupation stamps of China, undertook this research study after identifying that the three specialized catalogs on the subject differed substantially in their listings of these stamps.
The three catalogs are the Colour-illustrated Stamp Catalogue of China, commonly referred to as 'Chan' after its editor Chan Shu-hou;Ma's Illustrated Catalogue of the Stamps of China, commonly referred to as 'MA'; and the Japanese Stamp Specialized Catalog (JSCA).
The stamps are listed in Chan catalog order with the corresponding catalog numbers for not only the MA and JSCA catalogs where listed, but also for the Scott and Stanley Gibbons catalogs. Therefore, the tables in this monograph not only provide information on the disparities in the listings amongst the five catalogs, but also provide a concordance between their catalog numbers.
The contents include Japanese Ocupation stamps used in provinces in North China, Inner Mongolia, Central China, and South China.

Condition: JAPAN FORGERIES IMITATIONS DRAGON STAMPS
Description: W. Metzelaar and Varro E. Tyler
Forgeries and Imitations of the Dragon Stamps of Japan
Japan's Dragon stamps have been extensively forged by several different forgers. This 24 page monograph details all the forgeries and imitations of these stamps known at the time of its publication in 1971. This includes forgeries created by Japanese producers Wada Kotarō, Kamigataya, and Hirose, the Spiro Brothers in Germany, as well as creations by unknown individuals and even official imitations.
The Wada forgeries consist of different (either six or eight) design types within each plate, and an enlarged image of each different design type for each denomination is provided. It also defines and lists the various 'states' of the 6-stamp plates, produced primarily by the relocation of the sankō (reference) or mozō (imitation) incorporated in their designs.
This monograph also includes informative biographical facts about the producers, particularly Wada, and still remains the principal source of this information

Condition: JAPAN FORGERIES ** The Tourist Sheets and Booklets of Japan
Description: The Tourist Sheets and Booklets of Japan
IN ENGLISH ** 2004. In full color, 110pp.
The most prolific producer of forgeries of Japan's early Dragon, Cherry Blossom and Koban stamps was Wada Kotarō. Wada originated the concept of affixing series of his forgeries to attractive sheets with ornamental borders for sale and distribution, and this practice was copied by the firm of Kamigataya, which also produced forgeries. These sheets have been colloquially referred to over the years as 'tourist sheets' as they were largely distributed in Japanese ports where foreigners were visiting and settling.
This monograph provides a comprehensive study (in full color) of all the different types and designs of these sheets. In all, 23 different designs of Wada sheets have been identified, which the author has classified into five major groups in chronological order. The study also discusses the various imitations of the Wada and Kamigataya sheets produced by non-forgers.
Lastly, the monograph provides an analysis of a number of small booklets (and their imitations) produced by Wada that present his forgeries in a similar format to the tourist sheets.
